It is a privilege to be part of its identity, a link in the chain of its rich history and achievements, and an active contributor to its ongoing progress and excellence. The Department of Geology, Faculty of Science, Cairo University, stands as one of Egypt’s most prestigious academic institutions and the beating heart of Earth sciences in the country. For decades, it has played a pivotal role in preparing scientific and research leaders who have served both Egypt and the Arab world. For a full century, our department has witnessed generation after generation contributing to the exploration of Earth's secrets, strengthening the national economy, and advancing sustainable development. From the discovery of mineral resources to addressing environmental challenges, the Department of Geology has always stood at the forefront under the motto: “From the depths of the Earth, we shape the future of Egypt and the world.” The achievements of this department are the result of continuous dedication and a proud legacy of academic and scientific excellence. Together—faculty members, teaching assistants, and students—we remain committed to pursuing further progress and distinction. We take pride in our heritage, which began in 1925 when our pioneering professors laid the foundations of geological sciences that continue to serve the nation's needs. Today, we carry forward the same pioneering spirit using the tools of the modern era: artificial intelligence, green technologies, and global partnerships. In alignment with Egypt Vision 2030, we see ourselves as partners in achieving water security, clean energy, and environmental protection to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
